Iran’s security council to hold session on Turkey’s attempted coup

TEHRAN, Jul. 16 (MNA) – Iran’s Supreme National Security Council will hold a session today to inquire into the latest developments in Turkey, following the attempted coup in the Eurasian country on Friday.

The Supreme National Security Council Spokesman Keivan Khosravi made the announcement on Saturday, adding the session will be held before noon to look into the latest developments in Turkey following the Friday attempted coup.

“From the very first moments the news on a coup in Turkey was released, the SNSC secretariat issued the required measures for closely probing into the incident and facing its potential consequences,” Khosravi said.

Khosravi further hailed the valuable and effective role of Turkish people in defending democracy and stability in their country, and stressed the Islamic Republic’s position on strongly denouncing the coup in Turkey.
